Follow the set-up prompts, if you get them. They're kind of scary, but if you use the defaults you'll be just fine. CPAN, by the way, is the Comprehensive Perl Archive Network, and it makes it really easy to download Perl libraries that do useful things. (It's easy after the initial configuration, anyway.) DeliciousExport.pl is actually a pretty short script. Most of the heavy lifting is done by CPAN libraries.
You can add new items by simply typing in a name, publisher, etc., or by holding a barcode to your iSight camera. Thus, if you want to add a video game to your catalog, you can simply hold the video game case to the camera and it will be automatically added. Relevant information about new items will be downloaded from the Internet and added to the new item. For example, I tested the barcode scanner with an Xbox 360 copy of Call of Duty Black Ops. The application automatically found the product, added a virtual case to my virtual shelf, and downloaded a summary of the game. It worked like a charm.
It might come in handy if you're dealing with a large movie, music or book collection which you need to inventory on your Mac. You can use the integrated search tool to immediately find missing item information or products you wish to acquire sometime in the future. The program will also give you access to various recommendations based on the items you have in your library.
Delicious Library 3 provides you with accurate statistics based on the items you stored in your library. You can learn which are the top creators in your list, the total amount of money you spent on the products, etc.
The project began life as a beautifully simple digital library app; you could add books, and use it to manage lending. With unparalleled beauty and a simple finesse, the developers found there were clearly onto something. If you're struggling to keep track of a vast physical library of stuff, it may be exactly what you need.
Using the mobile app has another advantage though - you needn't be tethered your desktop, as it works over wifi to sync barcodes. Take it to your living room or real world library and scan at your leisure.
Zoom out from a single book cover to your entire library, complete with floor reflections. Utilizing native OpenGL hardware acceleration in OS X, the app runs smoothly, resizing and rearranging items on the fly. Hover over an item and it'll tilt slightly, following your mouse with a pretty lighting effect.
To show off your library, you can either publish to a website or local folder. Sadly, I was unable to upload a website, which resulted consistently in a crash. Unfortunately, a few features are lacking which prevent Delicious Library from being used to run an actual community library. The barcode scanner can only be used to add new items; you can't scan something to indicate it's going to be lent out or is being checked in. On a personal level though, it's certainly a competent way of tracking what you've lent to a small group of friends. Just drag an item to the friends name; when an item is "out", a yellow banner appears in the top right and the artwork greys out slightly.
You can add books to your library in a couple of different ways. You can search online, add them manually (in which case you have to enter the associated metadata yourself), or scan a barcode. Since I only read physical books, my preference is the barcode scanner. Just scan the barcode of the book you want to add, and Book Tracker grabs all the appropriate metadata and drops it in for you.
Delicious Library for Mac is an application designed to help collect all your digital and media devices together in one place and adds additional information about each file from the internet. Once Delicious Library has the full control of your library, it makes it easy for you to find and work on any item that is on your device. Delicious Library still provides recommendations for you on what to purchase according to your personalized settings. You can use the Dashboard Widget to search through your library to access your entire library collection.
Each time you acquire a new book, input the ISBN information into the app, and the software will create a new entry in your library with the information it downloads about the book from Amazon.com and other book databases.
This is a tool that lets you download, install, update, and search for files ("packages") from ticalc.org and other community sites from the command line. It uses Python 2.x, and therefore requires a version of that to run. See the Readme for more information and the Changelog for things new in this version.
