- Hi, I'm Mark W. Gray. Welcome to Lighting and Grip Essentials. In this course, I'll be showing you the basics of working with the kind of lighting equipment you're likely to encounter on a typical small video shoot. Now there are situations where natural light is enough to shoot with, but rarely is it coming from exactly the right direction to make your scene look its best. While you may be able to get an exposure without doing any lighting, in most situations you can improve how a scene looks dramatically by lighting it from the proper angles. Now the package we're working with today consists of lights. We've got Tungsten units here, fluorescents and even LEDs. We've got stands, which hold the lights up. We've got distribution, which just is a fancy word to mean cables to power the lights and we've got grip equipment, which includes stands and flags. That's for shaping the light. Now you may not be working with exactly the same brand of lights that I'm demonstrating today, but they all have pretty much the same features and controls. So this should prepare you for anything. Okay, let's get started.

Price: $199Instructor: Bryan GuerraSkill Level: BeginnerLectures: 17Total Time: 3 hoursIf you want to learn the website-building basics, this course is an excellent starter tutorial. It has six top-level sections that are designed to get you up and running with a website builder in quick fashion. The instructor, Bryan Guerra, uses Wix in his lessons. With How to Build Your Own Website(Opens in a new window), you'll learn the importance of placing vital information above the fold, the advantages of purchasing your own domain and having branded email addresses, and other website-related concepts. My one gripe with Guerra's otherwise competent instruction? He suggests searching Google to find photos for your website. That could lead to legal issues. Thankfully, he also mentions that you can tap Wix's built-in image library to round up site photos. 2ff7e9595c
